The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me! I would like to begin this post with a small introduction.

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

My name is Shalini, and I will be the author of the posts you will see in the days to come. I occasionally do reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Books have been my best friends since I started learning English alphabets. They have been my escape through tough times(I know for a fact that this is true for many of us). You could always find my nose buried in a book, even during recess. I remember being bullied for that. While it is quite common, but I was bullied not only because I was a “nerd/geek” but that my father was “handicapped.”When you translate the “quoted” words into Bengali language and say them to a 1st grader, that’s just shitty. That’s heinous.

Why did I mention the little anecdote above? Because I still see random acts of bullying around me and sometimes, one can get exhausted to speak up so many times. Adults to children poison each other with words; not realizing that those words have immense power to hurt someone very deeply. So I advise my students and other kids to read books because they are sometimes the best teacher, mentor, therapist(not a doctor though!). Most importantly, love yourself and everyone around you.

Anyhow, let’s get back on track…

I know that the website still needs a little polish. I am working on it. I will post my social handles on the footer(below). If you do want to check out my feed on Instagram, go to @book_rambler.

I have read so many books that I have to write reviews about. So, stay tuned!

Upcoming post: Review of “Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren”

P.S.: Please keep the comments on the positive side. This post errs on the side of too personal for me.
